Captain America: The First Avenger

My rating:

Before he joined the Avengers, Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) was a soldier in World War 2 in 1943 and voulenteered for an experiment that transformed him from weak and short to tall and strong. He becomes Captain America fights along with Agent Peggy Carter (Haley Atwell), childhood pal Sergaent James “Bucky” Barnes (Sebastian Stan) and Colonel Chester Phillips (Tommy Lee Jones) against the villanious Johann Schmidt (Hugo Weaving), who later reveals himself as the Red Skull. The Red Skull is the leader of an organization called Hydra. I would recommend this movie for anyone my age or older who likes Marvel movies like me. I liked the plot and the cast, and I really enjoyed this movie. This film is now availible on DVD, Blu-ray and Blu-ray 3D.

Hotel Transylvania

My rating:

Hotel Transylvania is a hilarious, animated film starring Adam Sandler, Selena Gomez, Andy Samberg, Kevin James and Fran Drescher. In this film, Dracula (voiced by Adam Sandler) owns a resort named Hotel Transylvania, where monsters and their families can rest in peace, away from the danger of humans. On one special weekend, Dracula invites the world’s most famous monsters, including Frankenstein’s monster (voiced by Kevin James), his bride (voiced by Fran Drescher), a family of werewolves (the parents, Wayne and Wanda, are voiced by Steve Buscemi and Molly Shannon), Murray the Mummy (voiced by Cee Lo Green), Griffin the Invisible Man (voiced by David Spade), Bigfoot, the Blob, and many other famous monsters to celebrate his daughter, Mavis(voiced by Selena Gomez)’s 118th birthday. But an ordinary 21-year-old human traveler named Jonathan (voiced by Andy Samberg) accidentally enters the hotel and falls in love with Mavis.

I really enjoyed this film and I thought it was hilarious. I would recommend this movie for children of all ages. Even adults will enjoy this movie. My brother and my dad also really enjoyed it. It is now one of my favorite animated movies of all time!

Bridge to Terabithia (2007)

My rating:

I saw this movie last week on Youtube and I thought it was a great movie. It stars Josh Hutcherson, AnnaSophia Robb, Bailee Madison, Robert Patrick and Zooey Deschanel. It is based on the award-winning novel by Katherine Paterson, which I also read, and it is the story of Jess Aarons (played by Josh Hutcherson)who meets a girl named Leslie Burke (played by AnnaSophia Robb). Together, they create the imaginary land of Terabithia and rule as king and queen. This friendship helps Jess cope with the tragedy that makes him realize what Leslie had taught him. I would recommend this touching film for the whole family.

Bruce Almighty

My rating:

Yesterday I saw the movie Bruce Almighty, which I really enjoyed and thought it was really funny. The movie stars Jim Carrey, Morgan Freeman, Jennifer Aniston, Steve Carell, Lisa Ann Walter, Phillip Baker Hall and Cathrine Bell. It is about a man named Bruce Nolan (played by Jim Carrey), who is a reporter for Eyewitness News at Buffalo, New York. He lives with his girlfriend, Grace Conelly(played by Jennifer Aniston), who he will soon be engaged with. One day, Bruce is fired for making obscence remarks at a live broadcast in Niagra Falls. Later, he meets God (played by Morgan Freeman), who gives him cool powers like his own, and he soon is known as Mr. Exclusive. I think Bruce Almighty is one of Jim Carrey’s most funny movies (another movie I really enjoyed starring Jim Carrey is Mr. Popper’s Penguin’s), and I also think that the most funny parts in the movie are when Bruce uses his new almighty powers to do supernatural things, like pulling the moon closer to the Earth with his bare hands, which makes the moon look larger in the sky, driving his car at hyperspeed, and using his hands to mimic parting the Red Sea in a red soup bowl. Even the trailer of the movie would make you laugh. I would reccomend this movie for kids my age or older and adults. This film is now available on DVD and Blu-ray.

Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith

My rating:

Yesterday, I saw the movie Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith. I really enjoyed the movie and thought it is really cool. It is the third and final installment to George Lucas’ ”Star Wars” prequel trilogy, in which the Jedi Knight Anakin Skywalker (played by Hayden Christensen) becomes the chancellor of the republic’s new apprentice after Count Dooku(AKA Darth Tyranus) was killed by Anakin (the chancellor’s name is Chancellor Palpatine, who is really the evil Darth Sidious, and he is played by Ian McDiarmid) joins the Dark Side and becomes the evil Darth Vader, changing the fate of the galaxy forever. Natalie Portman plays Padme Amidala, the fomer Queen of Naboo, who is also Anakin’s secret wife, and she has recently become pregnant with twins, who she later names Luke and Leia. Also, Ewan McGregor plays Obi-Wan Kenobi, a Jedi Master who is Anakin’s former master. I also really like the action sequences of the movie and I would recommend this movie for everyone, including kids and adults. Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith is now on DVD and Blu-ray and it will be re-released in theaters in 3D in the United States starting October 11, 2013.

Beasts of the Southern Wild

My rating: ratings1

Today I saw the movie ‘Beasts of the Southern Wild’ with my grandmother. We both didn’t really like the movie, and we also thought that the end of the movie was really sad. It is about a fearless six-year-old girl named Hushpuppy who lives with her father, Wink, in a community called ”the Bathtub”. Wink is teaching her how to survive in the wild, preparing her for a time when he’s no longer there to protect her because he knew that he was very ill and dying. Soon, following a terrible storm, ”the Bathtub” is flooded, ice caps begin to melt, releasing ancient beasts, who begin to come to the Bathtub and Hushpuppy’s father’s illness deteriorates. With ”the Bathtub” being flooded, the beasts coming, and Wink’s health fading, Hushpuppy begins to search for her lost mother. I think Hushpuppy is a really fearless girl, not running away when the beasts come close to her, but instead tries to get into their souls. I also think that the people who lived in ”the Bathtub” were like animals or cave people in the sense that they lived a very primitive life, nourishing only on what they were able to hunt or fish. They were not touched by civilization and even tried to stay away and decline any kind of help (even medical assistance). Yet, they are very sensitive and extremely loyal and devoted to each other.

I recommend the movie for adults and teenagers, but definitely not for young children who might find the movie too scary and misunderstand the fine sensibilities and relationships between the protagonists.

Zambezia

My rating:

Today, I went to see the movie Zambezia with my grandmother and my brother. The movie was in Hebrew, but we still enjoyed it. It is about a young falcon named Kai, who lives with his father, Tendai. One day, Kai flies away from his home to a huge bird city called Zambezia, where he tries to join a group of professional flying birds known as the Hurricanes, but he is only accepted as a trainee. In Zambezia, he meets Sekhuru, the founder and head of Zambezia(also a falcon), and his daughter, Zoe. However, when his father follows him to Zambezia, he gets caught by a lizard! Now Kai must rescue his father and Zoe and save Zambezia from the lizard which threatens its existence. Kai puts his own life in danger, jumps down from the cliff after the lizard, rescues his father and Zoe, and becomes Zambezia’s hero and a full Hurricane. I liked the idea that Kai, as he grows up, is trying to find his identity and become indepentent. At the same time, he remains a good and devoted son to his father and a loyal friend to his newly acquired mates and doesn’t hesitate to risk his life to save them from evil.

The Amazing Spider-Man

My rating:

2 days ago, I went to see the movie The Amazing Spider-Man with my friend and his parents. I really enjoyed the movie and now it is one of my favorites. It is about a teenage orphan named Peter Parker, who lives with his aunt and uncle, gets bit by a spider and gets new powers like web-shooting and wall-climbing. He soon becomes Spider-Man. But when Dr. Curt Connors, a man who used to work with Peter’s father, tries to use lizard DNA to get his arm back, he turns into The Lizard and tries to turn all living human beings into lizards. Now Spider-Man must defeat The Lizard and save New York City. In the end, Spider-Man replaces the lizard DNA cloud with an antidote cloud, which turns The Lizard back into Dr. Curt Connors. I really liked Andrew Garfield’s role as Peter Parker/ Spider-Man and Emma Stone’s role as Gwen Stacy. I would recommend this movie for anyone who likes Marvel movies.

Star Wars: Attack of the Clones

My rating:

2 days ago, I rewatched Star Wars: Attack of the Clones. I really enjoyed watching the movie and even though it’s not the best Star Wars movie, I think it’s a very cool movie. It is about 2 Jedi, Obi-Wan and Anakin, who continue to defend the galaxy from the Dark Side as the encounter many enemies on the way. I would recommend this movie for kids and adults. I also really like the action sequences in the movie.
